S’mores Rice Krispie Treats
S’mores might not be a typical fall flavor but it’s one of my favorites. These treats are chewy&soft and salty&sweet - just perfect for a fall day at the farm.
Ingredients
4 Tablespoons Butter
10 oz Bag Mini Marshmallows
1/2 Cups Sweetened Condensed Milk
5 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal
4 - 6 Pinches of Salt
2 Cups Teddy Grahams
1 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips, Frozen
Directions
Melt the butter in a medium pot on low heat. Optionally, you can brown the butter for a nutty taste. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
When the butter is melted add the marshmallows, sweetened condensed milk. Stir with a wooden spoon until melted and mixed.
Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies, Teddy Grahams, and salt. Fold in frozen chocolate chips. Add more sweetened condensed milk if it’s too dry. If it’s too wet, add more Rice Krispies.
Press into a pre-greased 8x10 pan. Let cool/harden, then cut into squares. I store them in an airtight container.
Tips
The secret to soft Rice Krispie treats is the sweetened condensed milk! It keeps them soft for days.
Greasing your fingertips will help prevent them from sticking to you when pressing into pan.
Freezing the chocolate chips helps them from melting when you mix. I recommend freezing any mix-ins that melt if you want them to remain whole.
Get everything coated quickly when you remove heat. If you let the mixture get too cool it’s very difficult to mix.
