Blue Lakes Trail
This is one of my favorite short trails that’s extremely inclusive. The trailhead is more challenging to access, however, the trail itself is one of the easiest. It’s wide enough for a family and flat enough that I could probably push our wagon up.

Location: Blue River, Colorado
Distance: 1 mile
Style: Out & Back
Level of Difficulty: Easy Peasy - good for all skill levels
Elevation Change: 108 ft
Terrain: Wide and flat gravel trail. The trail goes uphill out and downhill back. The incline isn’t steep but it is consistent. The trail is open and there is a lot of sun exposure.
What to See: Beautiful mountain views & multiple water features: waterfall, creek, lake
Tips:
it is highly trafficked + parking is limited
4WD vehicle is recommended to get to the parking area.
no major gear required (we wore sneakers & only brought a fanny pack)
it is typically windy in that area
no cell signal nor bathroom at the trailhead
high chance of encountering wildlife, please keep your distance and respect them
as always, leave no trace
